Jan 2025 - I just upgraded to the new digital unit for a £40 charge. I'd had an email inviting me to upgrade a few weeks before Christmas. My existing unit was having battery problems, so i decided now was the right time to get it swapped out. Delivery was next day. Setting up was very easy. I plugged it into a spare network port on my broadband router with the provided ethernet cable. I understand it will also connect over wifi, but that was not required in my situation. I had a concern about it working in the event of a power cut, given that the broadband router would go down. I was advised that the unit has a 4G sim card and so will use the mobile phone network should the need arise, and that this is how it works normally if you don't have a broadband connection at home. If you have neither Broadband nor a 4G signal, then this product might not be for you. The personal alarm button and the wrist holder it clips into is much bulkier than the previous one and feels uncomfortable on the wrist and will snag on long sleeves, so i opted to put it on the lanyard and wear round my neck. The lanyard needed a knot tied to shorten it (it's very long!). A pre-paid postage label is provided to send the old unit back, and so it's going back in the box that the new one arrived in, simples.

I had to change my Lifeline as I now only have a mobile phone. The new system was really easy to set up and although I am 89 and not very technically minded I was able to do it myself .when I tested it the person was very helpful too. The wristband is however much bulkier than the previous one and the strap more difficult to adjust.As I have a really tiny wrist I have had to cut the strap down quite a bit but it is comfortable to wear although I have noticed that it takes a long time to dry after a shower.

I have changed to the digital Lifeline and what a difficult performance it was. First of all the first box was faulty, the second was meant to have been sent to someone else and eventually I got the right one. I HATE THE THICK, CLUMSY GADJET THAT i HAVE TO WEAR AROUND MY NECK AND THE THICK AND MUCH TOO LONG CORD THAT IT IS ON. I accidentally also put out my 'phone line and it will have been 3 days waiting for a SKY re-connection.
